Alaways Vintage: The Old is New!

Hello guys, Spring has begun and I am super excited about it! Don't you guys love the way everything changes in Spring? It feels like all that surrounds us starts waking up and preparing for the summer explosion. Notice all the flowers, the colors and the different light that begin being part of our lives and - of  course - of fashion as well. I am happy to get started with this new season and I can't wait to see what's next.
Coming to today's article, I would like to talk about vintage. I cannot stress this enough, old is the future! Making a thirty year old pair of jeans fit like a new one is the only skill you need for vintage looks. Here I have the recipe to improve such skill: go to vintage markets, search in your grandparents' closets or even in your parents', look for a good old piece, wear it as if it was new, and combine it with modern clothes. You won't be disappointed, I promise! So, what do you guys think about the vintage market? Is it worth it or you prefer new clothes?

Blue and Black is Not a Rule!

total blue, midi skirt, street fashion 2015, blue and black, francesca navarro, fashion blogger, river island boots

I would like to begin this post with this statement: fashion is a game with no rules, wins whoever puts most of his own in it.

Let's take into consideration all the restraining rules that in the early 1900s forced women to wear only long and puffy dresses with huge hats. Do you remember who began wearing pants, riding-boots and man shirts at that time? Of course you do, Coco Chanel! Well. by breaking the rules she created not only one of the most successful brands in the fashion industry, but a new trend that launched women's fashion in a new era! Let's say it clearly, if it wasn't for her, who knows how long it would have taken for us to wear pants!!!

What about all the skin we show or the boyish looks we are able to wear because of today's fashion?  Only fifty years ago, we would have been considered crazy. Why? Because it would have meant breaking society's rules, therefore also the rules of fashion.

Another rule of fashion that we thought was unbearable is the blue/black or the brown/black combo. Well, these "strange" combos have been reevaluated by many fashion designers (you should check out the Fendi, Balenciaga, or Alexander Wang AW 2014/15 collections!). We are all in need for freedom, to go beyond the standards and beyond the rules. And as society is in need for these values, fashion it is as well. With this I am happy to tell you that you can wear whatever you feel it is right to wear because, again, fashion has no rules! I mean, I wore black and blue, is that bad?!?

Pointed Toe Booties, YES!

Hey guys! Today I want to show you my new pointed toe River Island boots. Seriously, they make every outfit look classy and dynamic. They are the perfect match for almost all types of looks, and in this case they make my very basic black and white look super chic and casual. My last touch was the double color scarf that I recently received as a Christmas Gift from my secret Santa. I know, Christmas was 2 months ago, but like I said in a previous post, Italians like it to last for a very long time! Let me know your thoughts..

WARBY PARKER: Half-Decade Collection

Hello guys! Today I want to start out with a video. I would love for you to watch it first and then read my post. Enjoy...

Today, after five years from its foundation, Warby Parker launches its Half-Decade Collection. The collection consists of five and a half shapes of glasses re-released in a limited-edition from their signature hue, blue, and engraved.

As you may have noticed from the video, Warby Parker caught my attention with its motto:
"For every pair sold, a pair is distributed to someone in need."

This brand of glasses found the best way to combine the fashion business with charity. Indeed, Warby Parker sums up all the sold eye-wear and donates the same number of glasses to nonprofit partners every year. The nonprofit partners are then in charge of training men and women in developing countries to give basic eye exams and sell eye-wear to their communities at super affordable prices. Basically, Warby Parker gives the opportunity to both earn a living and afford glasses to the people in need. Isn't this amazing?

The glasses are also very inexpensive, as the founders come from the idea that glasses should meet all types of wallets and not only the richest ones. You guys should definitely check their prescription glasses here!

And remember, buy one pair and make someone happy! ALWAYS PRO CHARITY!

Suit Up Like a Boy!

boy look, suit, monochrome grey, elegant look, street style 2015, trends 2015, peaceful place

I haven't really showed you my city or at least a part of my city before and I will take the opportunity to do so with this post. This is one of the most peaceful corners in Bari: windy and full of natural noises, yet so infinite. On those white rocks, you feel so isolated by the daily chaos, that you forget you are actually in the city, surrounded by buildings, cars, people, and most of all, problems. Seriously, life CAN slow down when you are not put in the middle of daily routines. It only takes a few minutes of walk and you could escape your life for a little. Who wouldn't want to escape? I mean problems trail our life uninterruptedly and sometimes we tend to forget who is the real pilot. We need to find our inner peace, maybe stop sometimes, and enjoy freedom. We were born free, so why let the problems take that away from us? Never chain yourself to the jails you create. I would recommend everyone to find a place like the one in the photos. There has to be a place that creates similar feelings, feelings of freedom, in every city. Find it and you will find your salvation, at least for a few hours!

Coming to today's outfit, I always leave this for last because I let the photos tell you about it for me. I prefer telling you my thoughts and story first. I chose a monochrome combo: I love how black and grey create that elegant yet boyish look. To give it a little color, I decided to wear a green clutch that I paired with a gold chain. Sometimes, it feels good to suit up like a boy!
